Dan Doherty is the past President of Calgary West Rotary, where he has been an active member for 37 years. Dan has a passion for advocating for and empowering youth, especially those without a voice. Dan has been very engaged with students at Tsuu T’ina High School, as well as the Aboriginal program at the Boys and Girls Club. He is the past Chair of Hull Child and Family Services, Accessible Housing, and the Calgary Rotary Clubs Foundation. Dan has been on fifteen home building trips in Mexico and is currently organizing the 16th Homes of Hope trip in March 2021 alongside his Rotarian wife, Marlene. Recently having returned from a Polio NID in Ethiopia and mission work in Uganda and Malawi, Dan is reinvigorated in the Rotary’s Polio eradication fight. Dan was awarded the distinguished “Service Above Self Award,” the highest tribute awarded in the Rotary world.
As District Governor for 2018-19 Dan and Marlene focused their energies on “Club Health,” and for the first time in six years District 5360 had a growth in membership. Two new Clubs were chartered as well as one new “E-Rotaract Club.” Understanding that there is still a lot of work to be accomplished Dan has agreed to Co-Chair the District 5360 Membership Committee, and recently appointed as an Assistant Rotary Zone Coordinator.
Corporately, Dan is CEO and Chairman of the Board of Curve Distribution Services Inc., and multi-division national wholesaler of food, consumer electronics and general merchandise. Additionally, Dan is CEO and Broker of D3 Strategies Inc., a real estate development, consultancy and brokerage firm. Dan also sits on numerous advisory boards and was a member of the Haskayne Management Advisory Council.
